Thailand’s coal imports surge substantially in July

According to statistics, Thailand imported 6.908 million tons of coals in July, soaring substantially by 5.8 times in comparison of that in the same period of a year earlier.

The country's July import values generated by coals totaled US$110 million.

In the first seven months of this year, Thailand imported 15.594 million tons of coals, surging by 53.9% year on year. The import values of coals amounted to US$870 million. The average prices were at US$55.62/ton, decreasing by 30.7%.

In the given period of time, Indonesia was the largest coal exporter to Thailand with 13.176 million tons; Australia was the second largest one with 1.785 million tons and South Africa was the third largest one with 286,000 tons.
